IN-HOUSE DIAGNOSTICS LABORATORY
Diagnostic laboratory testing provides key insight into the health of your pet. Our in-house veterinary diagnostic laboratory is able to analyze a variety of diagnostic tests. Many of our standard diagnostic tests can be evaluated while you wait.
Our common laboratory tests include:
This blood test checks for liver and kidney functions, the balance of electrolytes and enzymes as well as other chemicals such as phosphorous and calcium.
Complete blood count (CBC)
This blood test checks for the balance of different blood cell types and can give information on anemia, infection, and conditions like leukemia.
Stool samples are checked for the presence of intestinal parasites such as roundworms, hookworms, or Giardia.
Blood samples are used to check for the presence of heartworms. We recommend yearly testing and year-round preventive.
Urine samples can be used to check for several different things, including the health of kidneys, diabetes, and the presence of infection.
We recommend that all cats be tested for feline leukemia and vaccinated to protect them from this deadly virus.
Feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV)—This highly contagious virus has no treatment but cats can be kept comfortable and symptoms minimized with early detection.
Parvovirus is highly contagious and can be difficult to treat. Quick lab results can make all the difference.
Because we are able to obtain results within minutes, this is particularly valuable for immediate pre-anesthetic testing if your pet is about to undergo surgery. Pre-anesthetic testing gives you peace of mind and provides us with important physiological information on your pet immediately prior to anesthesia. To ensure the safety of your pet, blood work is strongly recommended for all anesthetic surgical procedures.
Our in-house lab also allows for a timely evaluation of your pet in an emergency. When illness affects pets, a quick diagnosis can make the difference between prolonged suffering and a speedy recovery.
We also work extensively with outside laboratories when more comprehensive or specialized veterinary testing is required.
Your pet’s health is very important to us. We take pride in providing the latest in veterinary lab diagnostics. Our goal is to provide your pet with the best possible veterinary healthcare.
